Are you the next Modern Bride?

June 2nd, 2008

Modern Bride is running a contest until June 16th to find the next modern bride. All you have to do is simply answer these six questions and upload a few photos of yourself so they can see how confident, witty and truly modern you are. Then they will ask ten semifinalists to submit videos of themselves to their site and America will vote for the five finalists who will fly to New York and compete for the title of Modern Bride of the Year and the cover of the magazine! Visit Brides.com/ModernBrideoftheYear for more information.

Go go go. Time is running out!

Should we drive our Bridal Party?

May 30th, 2008

I was asked the other day by a friend getting married, so should we provide transportation for the bridal party to and from the wedding and reception. My reply, only if you want to!

Yes, it looks classy having the whole bridal party roll up to the church or venue all in one limo, followed closely behind by the men in another. But this is soley up to you…. and your budget!

If you can’t afford to shuffle everyone around using a service, don’t feel bad about asking them to drive separately. Maybe instead of bringing them to the church you could get two limos for the reception. Put you and your groom (or bride) in one, then in the other, the bridal party.

There are ways around it, but again don’t feel bad if its not in the budget. It won’t ruin your day!

If you do choose to take a limo service, check out our blog on what to ask the limo company before setting up your day.

It’s the thought that counts!

May 30th, 2008

When you send out your reply cards with your invitations, you should designate a spot on the cards, either front or back, for your replying guests to write a note.

Then when you get all your reply cards back, you can scrapbook the thoughts from all your friends and family! Its a great way to save a little money on card stock if you were wanting to do memory cards, and a great idea for mixing up your  RSVP cards.

Up or Down? How about both!

May 28th, 2008

Here at aBridetoBee.com we are constantly searching for the ‘new’ things with weddings. One we keep seeing over and over isn’t about the dress or the decorations, or even the cake. This one gets a little hairy!

If you’re like most brides and have no idea if you’re locks would look better down to flow in the wind, or up and restraigned all day… why not do both?

Start your wedding with your hair in an up-do, then in the ride to your reception… take it down! Your guests will love the little bit of surprise and your wedding pictures will be fun to share with others.

If you really want to mix it up, do it the other way…. walk down the isle with your hair down, then at the reception get one of your lovely ladies to help you pin it back. The sudden change will, like we said, be a great way to mix up the party!
