Should we drive our Bridal Party?

May 30, 2008

I was asked the other day by a friend getting married, so should we provide transportation for the bridal party to and from the wedding and reception. My reply, only if you want to!

Yes, it looks classy having the whole bridal party roll up to the church or venue all in one limo, followed closely behind by the men in another. But this is soley up to you…. and your budget!

If you can’t afford to shuffle everyone around using a service, don’t feel bad about asking them to drive separately. Maybe instead of bringing them to the church you could get two limos for the reception. Put you and your groom (or bride) in one, then in the other, the bridal party.

There are ways around it, but again don’t feel bad if its not in the budget. It won’t ruin your day!

If you do choose to take a limo service, check out our blog on what to ask the limo company before setting up your day.

Up or Down? How about both!

May 28, 2008

Here at aBridetoBee.com we are constantly searching for the ‘new’ things with weddings. One we keep seeing over and over isn’t about the dress or the decorations, or even the cake. This one gets a little hairy!

If you’re like most brides and have no idea if you’re locks would look better down to flow in the wind, or up and restraigned all day… why not do both?

Start your wedding with your hair in an up-do, then in the ride to your reception… take it down! Your guests will love the little bit of surprise and your wedding pictures will be fun to share with others.

If you really want to mix it up, do it the other way…. walk down the isle with your hair down, then at the reception get one of your lovely ladies to help you pin it back. The sudden change will, like we said, be a great way to mix up the party!

For the Birds

May 28, 2008

It’s been known for, well, as long as I can remember that throwing rice as the Bride and Groom run to the cars is ‘the thing to do’ at a wedding. However, anyone who’s ever been at a wedding with this fiasco knows that it isn’t the best way to celebrate the new couple. I mean, who wants to spend their limo ride to the reception picking rice out of your hair or clothes. There are many alternatives to the old-fashion cooking rice on the market now’a days and after hand testing them all, we’ve found the best!

Flower Packages

May 22, 2008

One thing we’ve found while doing all our bridal research is that more and more we’re seeing flower shops that are offering Bridal packages. This can greatly cut back in the cost of your flowers, getting them as a collection is the way to go. ProFlowers.com offers a few different packages ranging from smaller packages, to ones a little larger.

If you’d like to order flowers from your local flower shop or grocery store, yes- I said grocery store, then be sure to ask them what kind of packages they offer for wedding parties. Sometimes you have to ask to get a better deal!

Another thing to do is do a little research and see if you can find a local wholesale garden supplier. Most cities have local wholesalers for flowers and plants and its a great way to get fresh items at a low cost!
